Call emergency tree service immediately when: a tree has fallen on a structure, a large limb is hanging over an occupied area and could fall, a leaning tree has visibly shifted position, or a tree is in contact with a live power line. These situations require same-day response. Scheduled removal handles everything else — fallen trees in open yards, debris cleanup, and removals where the immediate danger has passed.
True Tree Emergencies: Call Immediately
Tree on a structure — roof, car, fence, outbuilding: any tree or major limb resting on a structure is an emergency because additional failure is unpredictable and the structure may be compromised. Hanging limb over an occupied area: a partially attached, hanging limb ("widowmaker") above a door, walkway, deck, or frequently occupied area is an emergency even if it hasn't fallen yet. Sudden lean: a tree that has shifted position overnight or after a storm — with soil heaving or exposed roots — is at imminent failure risk. Contact with utility lines: any tree in contact with a live power line. Call 911 first. Do not approach.
Non-Emergency Situations That Can Be Scheduled
Tree fell in open yard away from structures: the danger has passed. Schedule cleanup within 24–72 hours. Debris and scattered limbs: no active hazard, schedule a cleanup. Dead tree not near structures or occupied areas: schedule removal within a few weeks. Tree you have concerns about but is still standing upright: schedule a risk assessment. Stump grinding after a previous removal: no urgency.
What to Do While Waiting for Emergency Response
Keep people and pets away from the affected area. If a tree is on your roof, do not go into rooms below the tree — ceiling damage may not be immediately visible. Do not start moving the tree yourself — shifting weight causes secondary failures. Photograph the damage for your insurance claim. Call your homeowner's insurance to open a claim before any work begins. Emergency line answered 24/7: (864) 913-3978.
